Job Overview

The Worship/Arts Pastor will demonstrate a strong commitment to Jesus Christ and a passion for worship that is intergenerational, highly relational, and centered on the Word of God. He/she will demonstrate an ability to craft a worship atmosphere that inspires God’s people to love Him more deeply and equips them to serve Him more faithfully.

This position reports to the Senior Pastor and leads the Worship Design Team (WDT), Music Directors Team, and Media/Worship Associates.  Primarily, this position oversees the worship design process, integrating the sermon, music, liturgy, and creative arts in a biblically faithful and culturally relevant way that brings glory to God.  He/she will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of worship, including the interface of personnel and various media/music components.  The Worship Pastor is expected to bring strong spiritual leadership to all PEPC’s worship ensembles and teams; lead rehearsals in coordination with Media/Worship Associates; recruit and train volunteers to serve in our various teams; and embrace our congregation in intergenerational worship. As a member of the PEPC staff, the Worship Pastor, is an integral partner in the implementation of God’s vision for PEPC as cast by the Session.

  • Demonstrate an ability to give and receive constructive criticism.
  • Attitude of faithful stewardship
  • Advanced degree and/or training in Music/Worship or equivalent
  • Demonstrate a proven ability to nurture the Spiritual lives of others both individually and corporately.
  • Five years related experience
  • Effective planning and organization skills
  • Strong verbal and written skills
  • Ability to work with and motivate people (staff/volunteer teams )
  • Ability to evaluate and implement efficient and innovative methods/processes.

Areas of Responsibility

  • Spiritual Leadership
  1. Design and implement devotional practices at rehearsals/meetings that nurture a deep heart for God and keep our focus on Him.
  2. Leading visibly and publicly in a way that points the congregation to Jesus Christ.
  3. Cultivate the communal prayer life of each of our teams.
  • Worship Leadership
  1. Leading the congregation in corporate worship including but not limited to welcoming, prayer, and music.
  2. Introducing both traditional and contemporary elements in our worship services that build trust and further the intergenerational worship vision of the church.
  3. Nurture an environment where worship is enhanced and distractions are minimized so that PEPC can encounter and experience God through His Word.
  4. Discerns the theological appropriateness of worship selections
  5. Responsive to those who may experience being disenfranchised and alienated in worship
  • Music Leadership
  1. Facilitate/direct ensembles (i.e. choir, band, bells, Gospel Guys, etc.).
  2. Lead directors meetings.
  3. Facilitate worship arts team meetings.
  • Worship Design Team
  1. Plan for and lead once a week WDT meetings
  2. Expertise to design, mentor and develop deep spiritual worship experiences
  3. Responsible to maintain worship areas and software (i.e. platform, sound booth, equipment, planning and presentation software, etc)
  4. Scheduling and coordination of worship personnel both paid and volunteer
  5. Coordination of congregational worship aids (bulletins, slides, ashes)
  6. Coordinate and/or assist in marketing and communication
